Phaseolus vulgaris HEIRLOOM. The name of these classic beans comes from the spanish frijoles pintos, meaning “painted beans,” referring to their characteristic mottled coloring. Pintos are a favorite in soups and chili, or mashed and refried. The bush type plants will grow short runners, but should not need trellising. Pinto beans should be direct seeded in a location with full sun after all danger of frost has passed. Dry beans will be ready to harvest in about 90 days. 14 gram packet contains approximately 25 seeds.
