Use 2-3 dryer balls for small loads and all 6 for large loads. Pro Tip: Don’t overfill the dryer—dryer balls need room to move to work effectively! Step 2: Put Your Laundry in the Dryer and Add Dryer Balls That’s it—no extra effort required! Optional Steps Take your laundry routine to the next level with these optional enhancements! Add Fragrance Add 3-4 drops of Freshly Washed Essential Oil Blend to a couple of dryer balls. Toss the balls into the dryer with your laundry and dry as usual. Want a stronger scent? Try these simple tricks! Let it absorb first: Allow the oil to soak into the dryer balls for 1-2 minutes before tossing them in.
Adjust the amount: Start with 2-3 drops per dryer ball for a light scent, or increase to 5-6 drops for a stronger aroma (but avoid overapplying to prevent oil stains).
Apply at the right time: For a scent that lingers, add Freshly Washed during the last 10-15 minutes of the cool-down cycle.
Try a cool-air boost: Dry your laundry as usual, then apply Freshly Washed to your dryer balls, toss them in with the dry clothes, and run a 5-10 minute cool-air cycle to help the scent cling to fabrics.
Store for freshness: Keep unused infused dryer balls in a sealed container or bag between laundry cycles to help retain the scent. Extra Static Reduction
Soak Your Dryer Balls: Before adding them to the dryer, soak a few balls under running water while squeezing them lightly to ensure they’re fully saturated (but not dripping wet). As the water evaporates during drying, it increases humidity inside the dryer, helping to prevent static buildup. This effect lasts throughout the drying cycle.
Add Safety Pins: Pinning one or two metal safety pins to your dryer balls can help prevent static by attracting extra electrons and discharging them as the pins make contact with the drum. Perfect Pairings Enhance your laundry routine with these must-have companions for your wool dryer balls! Freshly Washed Essential Oil Blend: Add a few drops to your dryer balls for a fresh, citrusy scent that smells like clothes dried in the sun. Free from artificial fragrances, it’s gentle on skin and tough on odors. Laundry Kit: Take your laundry to the next level with this all-in-one kit! Includes Freshly Washed, a set of wool dryer balls, and the eBook How to Wash Everything, packed with expert laundry tips and stain-fighting solutions. Gentle Care Mesh Laundry Bags: Extend the life of your dryer balls by refreshing them in a mesh laundry bag with a hot water wash. Plus, these bags protect delicates and keep socks from disappearing in the wash! Care Instructions Recharging Dryer Balls: If they start to lose shape, refresh them by boiling them in water for a few minutes or washing them in hot water inside a mesh laundry bag, then drying them on high heat.
When to Replace: After 1,000+ loads, dryer balls may start to wear out. Pro Tip: Old dryer balls make great stuffing for toys or pillows!
