Ease to Grow: Easy Dormancy: Not Required Native Range: Wet Pocosins of the Gulf Coast and Southeastern North America, Caribbean and South America Zones: 6-10 (5-10) Drosera capillaris or Pink Sundew is a small, low-lying sundew with rounded traps, and numerous red sticky tentacles. Its particular charm comes from its pink flowers and habit of growing throughout the Winter if kept warm and bright. It prefers open and sunny, wet savannahs with peaty or sandy-peaty soils. It does not form a winter hibernacula (resting bud). The small flowers are generally pink, but may be white, on scapes with multiple blossoms. Pink Sundews flower from May to August and frequently produce abundant seeds, giving them a nice spreading habitat. Seeds may be stored cool and dry without stratification (cold-wet period). It is very wide-spread throughout the southern Coastal Plain. There is a Giant Form native to more southern locations. Drosera capillaris is an ideal delight in a terrarium, and a great companion in the collection or bog garden. This selection comes from seed, and will show some natural variations. D. capillaris is a small sundew, typically less than 3/4" across. For maximum effect use multiple plants in a 6" pot. Plants are shipped bare-root, wrapped in damp sphagnum moss. In it's dormant season, it will be shipped as a dormant hibernaculum. Photographs are representative of species, and not the specific Drosera capillaris for sale. Height: 0.5"-2" Plant Type: Perennial, Warm Temperate Soil: Lower Bog Mix or All Purpose Mix Light: Bright indoors, full sun to partial sun outdoors Use: Grows well in the bog garden, greenhouse and indoors. It is an ideal terrarium plant
