Dried Tumbleweed Salsola tragus Evocative of sweeping prairies and the wild west, Tumbleweed brings an element of rustic surprise indoors. Also known as Russian thistle, tumbleweeds were originally native to the arid grasslands of the Ural mountains in Russia. Russian settlers first introduced it to the U.S. in the 1870's, when it was mixed with flax seed in South Dakota. We love the sculptural quality of these dried forms and recommend medium and large sizes as unexpected decorative accents in fireplaces, on top of armoires, or hanging from the ceiling in clusters.
