SunSparkler Dream Dazzler Stonecrop

SunSparkler Dream Dazzler Stonecrop (Sedum rupestre 'Dream Dazzler')SunSparkler Dream Dazzler Stonecrop is a low, colorful groundcover that keeps sunny beds looking sharp from spring through fall. The foliage starts with lighter variegated tones, then deepens into dramatic purple with hot pink edging as the season warms. In late summer, bold flower clusters rise above the mat and bring pollinators in when many plants are winding down. It thrives with sun, drainage, and a lighter touch, making it a strong fit for waterwise landscapes. Distinctive FeaturesThis compact, mat-forming stonecrop is prized for foliage that shifts through the season, often showing pink, white, and purple tones in spring before settling into deep purple to purple-green leaves with vivid hot pink margins. It stays dense and well-branched, creating a tidy, weed-suppressing carpet when planted in groups. Large, flat-topped clusters of bright pink to magenta flowers appear from late summer into early fall, extending color for weeks. In mild winter regions it can hold foliage longer, adding off-season texture in sheltered sites. Growing Conditions Sun: Full sun for best color and compact growth, with light shade tolerated. Soil: Well-drained soil is essential, and sandy, gravelly, or rocky soils are ideal. Water: Water to establish, then provide dry to medium moisture, allowing soil to dry between waterings. USDA Zones: Hardy in USDA Zones 4 to 9. Mature Size: Typically grows 6 to 8 inches tall and spreads 18 to 24 inches wide. Ideal Uses Focal Point: Use a concentrated patch as a low focal point where the hot pink-edged foliage and late blooms can stand out against stone or mulch. Groundcover: Mass plant to create a dense mat that fills gaps and keeps sunny beds looking finished. Rock and Gravel Gardens: Tuck into fast-draining sites where bold foliage color and drought tolerance matter. Edging: Line paths and bed fronts for a clean, low border with season-long color shifts. Containers: Plant near the rim of pots to add vivid foliage contrast and late-season bloom in sunny planters. Low Maintenance Care Pruning: Shear lightly after flowering or in early spring to refresh growth and keep the mat dense. Fertilizing: Avoid heavy feeding, because lean soils support tighter growth and better foliage color. Watering: Once established, water only during extended drought to maintain vigor and bloom quality. Mulching: Use a thin gravel top-dress if desired and keep crowns from staying wet to reduce rot risk. Propagation: Expand plantings easily by rooting small stem pieces in well-drained soil. Why Choose SunSparkler Dream Dazzler Stonecrop? Season-Long Color: Foliage shifts from spring variegation to deep purple with hot pink edging for long-lasting impact. Late-Season Bloom: Bright pink to magenta flower clusters extend color from late summer into early fall. Tidy Coverage: Dense, well-branched growth forms a neat mat that helps suppress weeds.
