Double Play Doozie® Spirea (Spiraea x)

Double Play Doozie® has foliage that emerges in blazing, deep red and lime green in early spring before it matures to dark green through the season. Late spring brings bright, glowing red-pink flowers, and it blooms all summer. It is non-invasive, meaning it sets no seed and won't spread. All the energy it would spend developing seed goes into blooming instead, so it reblooms through fall. It does it all with the same good looks, drought tolerance, and deer resistance that you expect from spirea, too. 2-3 feet tall and wide at maturity Hardy in zones 3-8, be sure to check your USDA zone to ensure success Plant in part to full sun (4+ hours daily) Space plants 2-3 feet apart for best results Maintains colorful foliage that develops from deep red and lime green in spring to dark green leaves later in the season Maintains red-pink flowers from early summer to frost Blooms on new wood Great for borders, edging, landscapes, mass plantings, low hedges, focal points Resists deer Deadheading not necessary, drought tolerant, long blooming, low maintenance, seedless, foliage interest Our deciduous shrubs are entering their natural dormancy phase. As part of this process, foliage is turning colors, drying out, and falling off—this is completely normal! Shedding leaves helps the plants conserve energy and prepare for the next growing season. Rest assured, your shrubs will wake up and thrive again when it's time in your growing zone. Dormancy is how they prepare for a healthy, vibrant comeback as the seasons change!
