DOUBLE DUTCH THE CANVAS

**"Double Dutch,"** painted by **Riskie Forever** in 2023, captures a nostalgic scene from the artist’s childhood growing up in Compton. The painting is inspired by the sights of girls playing double Dutch on the blacktops of playgrounds during recess, a familiar and joyful activity that brought life to the streets and schools of Compton. The vibrant colors and stylized figures in the painting are full of energy, reflecting the dynamic rhythm of the game. The four girls, painted in bold, neon hues, are engrossed in the act of jumping rope, their bodies fluid and in motion. Each girl wears colorful sneakers, adding to the playful and lively atmosphere of the scene. The jump ropes swing in synchronized arcs, framing the central figure who is in mid-jump, her braids flying in the air, embodying the focus and grace of the moment. In the background, the sunset casts a warm, golden glow over the cityscape, with silhouetted buildings and palm trees hinting at the urban environment. Above the girls, lush green leaves dangle, grounding the scene in the familiar surroundings of a Compton playground. The choice of bright colors contrasts with the silhouettes in the background, making the figures stand out vividly against the landscape. **"Double Dutch"** is not just a painting; it is a celebration of childhood, community, and the vibrant culture of Compton. Through this piece, **Riskie Forever** brings to life the simple yet profound joy of a game that connected generations of children and brought moments of freedom and fun to the streets. The painting is a tribute to the enduring spirit of Compton, where even in the most ordinary moments, life is full of color, rhythm, and movement.     Looking to add a little flair to your room or office?
