The most common of these issues is patellar tracking disorder.  When this disorder is present in patients, the kneecap frequently slides out of place and causes mild to severe pain. The kneecap typically shifts either to the left or right of its proper alignment.  Bracing is an excellent treatment for patellar tracking disorder. It also helps relieve mild to moderate knee pain. The support it provides is perfect for patients with lateral subluxation and patellofemoral dysfunction.  The low-profile design of the DonJoy Tru-Pull Lite is perfect for people who need extra knee support during daily activities such as working, going to school, or running errands.  If you have mild to moderate patella instabilities, you know that a dislocation can ruin your entire day. Worse, it can cause more serious knee injuries if not treated properly.  The Tru-Pull Lite's two-pronged strap velcros closed both above and below the kneecap. This pressure of the straps eases the patella into proper alignment and reduces pain from patellar tracking disorder.  The brace also features a unique support pad. The pad sits against the side of the patella and provides a soft, but tacky connection with the skin. This provides additional patellar support and ensures maximum comfort.  Benefits of the DonJoy Tru-Pull Lite Open Knee Brace We designed the Tru-Pull Lite to be a short, low-profile, and comfortable brace.  The straps above and below the kneecap velcro into place independently. They put a consistent and true pull on the kneecap during movement. If the patella starts to shift out of place, the pull of the straps realigns it.  Properly aligning the kneecap seriously reduces the pain that comes from patellofemoral problems like dislocating your kneecap. This is particularly useful for athletes like runners who need to be able to push through knee issues.  The DonJoy Tru-Pull Lite knee brace is designed to stay in place. It's constructed with independent anchors that prevent the brace from rotating. It also comes with removable plastic hinges that provide additional side-to-side stability.  The fabric of the knee sleeve wicks away sweat. It is lightweight and breathable, making it comfortable for both everyday and athletic use.  The DonJoy Tru-Pull Lite Knee Brace is also eligible for HSA/FSA spend. Who Should Use DonJoy Tru-Pull Lite Knee Braces?  Our Tru-Pull Lite knee brace assists people with patella tracking issues. These are the primary patients who should use our hinged knee brace. Since the Tru-Pull Lite is the smallest and lightest of our knee braces, it is also useful as a knee brace for running.  The most common injury among runners is runner’s knee or patellofemoral syndrome. This is a general term that refers to pain in the front of the knee or around the kneecap. This kind of injury is often caused by overuse in sports that involve running or jumping.  The pain associated with runner's knee is typically dull and felt in one or both knees. This pain can range from mild to severe and gets worse during prolonged sitting or exercise. Jumping, climbing stairs, and squatting can also aggravate the injury.  If you are experiencing patellofemoral syndrome, you must provide your knees with extra support using a runner's knee brace. Braces like the Thru-Pull Light are perfect for giving your knee joint the support it needs to heal.  If you are an active runner, you can prevent patellofemoral syndrome by wearing knee sleeves while you train. It is also important to stretch properly before running and take time to let your knee joints get stronger. Your muscular tissue develops faster than your joint tissue. That's why when beginning a new workout program or increasing the intensity of your current one, you should give your joints time to catch up with your muscles.  Patients healing from an ACL tear or other knee injury are also benefited by the use of a knee sleeve. The most important thing to do while you are healing is to provide the joint with as much support as possible. This is especially true for people who have to continue working or training during recovery.  How to Use A Donjoy Tru-Pull Lite Knee Brace  To use the DonJoy Tru-Pull Lite, simply slide the knee brace onto the correct position on your knee. Your kneecap should be visible through the large circular hole.  Next, adjust the straps above and below the kneecap to ensure that the patella maintains proper alignment. Make sure that the support pad sits comfortably against the skin of your knee. If discomfort occurs, readjust the top or bottom strap as necessary. You can wear the brace with our without its nylon hinges. The hinges provide extra support when needed, but you can also wear the brace without them for extra mobility.  The Tru-Pull Lite is lightweight and comfortable for all-day use. It merges this comfort with providing maximum patella support.  Maintaining Your Knee Brace  Knee braces are worn directly on the skin, which makes frequent cleaning important. To clean your brace, use a clean washcloth and mild, soapy water on the side that sits next to the skin.  Extract and wash any removable pads, hinges, or accessories with mild detergent. Rinse them thoroughly and let them air dry. Use saddle soap on any leather piece.  Make sure that the brace is completely dry and that all soap residue has been washed away before putting it back on. If your brace isn't drying fast enough, use a hairdryer on the cool setting to speed along the drying process.  If the brace is exposed to saltwater, wash and rinse it thoroughly. Double-check the entire brace for any residue that can linger inside and cause irritation.  Avoid exposing your brace to extreme temperatures. For example, don't leave it inside a closed car on a hot or sunny day. Exposure to extreme temperatures can shorten the lifespan of your brace.  Check your brace occasionally for signs of wear. If you think that it needs repairs, contact us and let us know.  Alternatives  One of the benefits of knee braces is that they come in many different styles to treat many different types of injuries.  If you have an MCL or LCL injury, knee pain due to mild OA, previous meniscus tear, contusions, or patella instability, the DonJoy Economy Hinged Knee may be a better option for you.  This brace provides more coverage of the leg and delivers light support to the knee. It is ideal for daily activities, twisting, and side-to-side movements.  The brace is designed with flexible padded hinges, which makes it ideal for people who don't want to wear a rigid brace. It's also good for athletes who participate in sports like wrestling, rugby, or youth soccer and aren't allowed to wear a knee brace.  The Economy Hinged Knee protects ligaments from re-injury, reduces swelling due to injury, eases pain associated with ligament instabilities, and helps prevent further injury when participating in sports. It's best for the protection and prevention of MCL/LCL ligament injuries and instabilities.  The brace can be used during day-to-day activities like work, errands, and walking. It is also ideal for sports that require a lot of movements like football, volleyball, cheerleading, soccer, and tennis.  The DonJoy Playmaker II knee brace provides maximum coverage and support. It extends to the top of the thigh and middle of the calf.  This brace has durable external hinges that support the entire knee and leg. It is ideal for relief from ACL, MCL, and LCL injuries, as well as meniscus injuries and hyperextended knees.  It is best for sports like basketball, baseball, and soccer, which all require a significant amount of running. The brace is comfortable enough to wear all day but is typically used only during athletic training or events.  Additional Accessories  One of our most popular accessories is the DonJoy Cotton/Lycra Undersleeve.  The undersleeve is worn beneath the knee brace. This prevents any irritation or chafing that might occur.  It's also a great choice for athletes that are wearing their knee brace frequently. The undersleeve keeps the interior of your knee brace clean so you don't have to worry about washing it as often.  Our DonJoy Sports Brace Cover is another great accessory. It's the perfect way to cover your knee brace to protect yourself and others during team sports. It also keeps your knee warmer and prevented the hinges from collecting dirt and debris.  FAQ How much does the Donjoy Tru-Pull Lite cost?  The Tru-Pull Lite usually costs around $160.00.
