Does the Bible Really Say That? Bible Study

We are living in challenging times for Christians. False teachers and teachings are everywhere. Thanks to the Internet, we can use a search engine to “research” a topic starting with our own bias! For example, you could search “reasons God accepts homosexuality” and that’s exactly what you’ll get. In a context like that, you end up “confirming” teachings that are simply unbiblical—which is exactly what many people are doing today. While it’s amazing that we have access to all this “information,” it has become increasingly toxic to the pursuit of truth. Here at Faith That Speaks, we remain committed to following Jesus through the study of His Word—in context and with a heart that says, “not my way, Jesus, but Yours.” God has given us His Word, and along with that, He warned us that people will try to distort it. Obviously, God knows the human heart! Many often quoted “Bible” passages are just shells of the actual passage, because they have been cherry-picked to create a new version of the Truth. Colloquialisms for “itching ears” have replaced solid biblical teaching. Oh, how we need discernment! In this study, we’ll be examining some common misunderstandings and misconceptions in the culture as it relates to Scripture—examining them to show ourselves “approved workmen” who can “rightly divide the Word of Truth.” As Christians, we need to be able to filter everything through God’s Word—and come out on the other side of our study armed with grace and truth. A woman who is armed with truth is a formidable warrior in the spiritual battles of our day. God’s Word is, after all, a sword! Learn to use it and you will be able to defeat the lies of the enemy. Guaranteed. Truth is powerful. Are you ready to expose some lies and lean into Truth? Me too!
