Intelligent step-by-step integration ensures that each phase flows into the next with minimal friction. High and Low-Quality Models in One Interface Your browser does not support our video. Whether you’re working with detailed, high-res reconstructions or simpler, low-res versions, DJI Modify lets you view and edit them side by side. Updates made on one version instantly carry over to the other, making it easier than ever to manage different data fidelity levels during the editing process. Efficient 3D Model Repair Floating Parts Removal Multiple Selection Methods Your browser does not support our video. Beyond clicking individual points or dragging a selection box, DJI Modify offers “Add to Selection” and “Subtract from Selection” options to precisely identify stray or suspended geometry. This reduces the need to reload higher-quality models repeatedly, saving you time. One-Click Removal Your browser does not support our video. Once the floating pieces are highlighted, simply use the “Remove Floating Parts” button or press Delete/Backspace on your keyboard. Preview the updated model immediately, ensuring quick and efficient cleanup. Flattening Multiple Selection Methods Your browser does not support our video. Outline the region you want to flatten with a polygon selection or combine multiple areas with Add to Selection or Subtract from Selection. This flexibility helps you target irregular areas without hassle. Vehicle Flattening and Texture Repair Your browser does not support our video. By selecting the Vehicle button, DJI Modify can automatically detect vehicles in view. One click flattens the mesh of each vehicle, and the software immediately blends and smooths out the texture. This ensures a consistent look without bumpy or elevated spots. One-Click Flattening Your browser does not support our video. After an area is selected, just hit Flatten to remove any protrusions. Whether it’s a single patch or multiple grouped sections, the process is straightforward, especially for surfaces cluttered by cars, signs, or pedestrians. Texture Repair Polygon Select Your browser does not support our video. Use a polygonal selection to pinpoint areas requiring texture fixes. This approach allows you to refine irregular parts of the model quickly and accurately. Erase Your browser does not support our video. When using Erase, DJI Modify samples nearby textures to fill and blend the selected region seamlessly, helping you remove imperfections without leaving obvious patches. Clone Your browser does not support our video. By selecting an existing pattern and applying it elsewhere, the Clone tool smoothly merges the edges of the new patch with the surroundings, ensuring a consistent finish. Hole Fill Hole Contour Detection Your browser does not support our video. DJI Modify automatically identifies gaps within the model, outlining them precisely so you don’t waste time hunting down tiny holes or missing geometry. Frame/Click Select Your browser does not support our video. Quickly define the perimeter of each hole by clicking or framing its boundary, enabling targeted repairs exactly where needed. Custom Select Your browser does not support our video. For irregularly shaped openings, switch to the custom selection mode to accurately match the hole’s contour. Then fill it without compromising the surrounding geometry. One-Click Fill Your browser does not support our video. Once you’ve selected the holes, tap Fill to repair them automatically. DJI Modify merges new textures seamlessly, so even complex or subtle openings get fixed smoothly. Water Surface Repair Custom Range Your browser does not support our video. Define the shape, size, and height of your water surface directly on the model. Adjust it so it fits seamlessly with the terrain, improving visual fidelity for projects involving rivers, lakes, or coastal areas. Quick Generation Your browser does not support our video. While creating or adjusting the water surface, DJI Modify fills it with your chosen texture or color in real time, delivering a realistic finish without switching back and forth between different applications. Point Cloud Editing Automatic Point Cloud Classification[5] Your browser does not support our video. Easily categorize point cloud data (e.g., into ground or non-ground) with a single click. Switch between color-coded layers—such as RGB, height, or reflectivity—and quickly preview classification results for a deeper understanding of your data set. Intelligent Point Cloud Selection Your browser does not support our video. Identify cloud types—like ground, roof, or vehicle—by simply clicking in 3D space. Use single or grouped selection methods to boost precision and expedite the classification process. Manual Point Cloud Classification Your browser does not support our video. Manually tag or split specific point cloud sections into LAS-compliant categories that fit your project needs. Toggle visibility or export each classification separately to streamline data management. Terrain Result Generation Your browser does not support our video. Accurately-classified ground points can be used to create higher-quality DEMs, contour lines, TIN, or grid data, ensuring you meet the specific requirements of surveying, land planning, and more. Cloud Sharing, Quick Delivery Your browser does not support our video. Export your refined 3D models to a variety of formats—such as ply, obj, or b3dm—ready to integrate with DJI Terra or third-party solutions. When cloud sharing is enabled (available in Q2 2024), teammates can view and collaborate on your edits via any web browser or supported mobile device, no extra software installation required. Supported Devices DJI Modify is engineered to work with DJI Terra (v4.0.0 and above) and DJI Enterprise drones that capture visible-light 3D models for reconstruction. Minimum recommended hardware for running DJI Modify includes a 64-bit Windows 10 or higher system with at least 32 GB of RAM, an NVIDIA graphics card (Compute Capability ≥ 5.0) with ≥4 GB VRAM, equivalent to or better than an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050Ti. Note that certain features may require network licensing and consistent internet connectivity. FAQ What is DJI Modify? DJI Modify is an intelligent 3D model editing software from DJI, designed to integrate seamlessly with DJI Terra. It enables users to refine 3D reconstructions—such as removing floating parts, fixing textures, or repairing holes—without leaving the DJI software ecosystem. Which file formats and data does DJI Modify support? DJI Modify works with visible-light 3D models reconstructed by DJI Terra (v4.0.0 or later). It exports in common 3D formats like OBJ, PLY, and B3DM. For point clouds, classified LAS exports are supported, making it easier to integrate with other mapping and GIS solutions. Do I need any special hardware or system requirements? A Windows 10 (64-bit) or higher system is required, along with at least 32 GB of RAM. DJI recommends an NVIDIA graphics card (Compute Capability ≥5.0) with at least 4 GB of VRAM—comparable to a GeForce GTX 1050Ti or above—to ensure smooth operation. How does point cloud editing work in DJI Modify? Point cloud editing is currently available in Beta. You can automatically or manually classify data (e.g., ground vs. non-ground) and adjust visibility or export specific classifications. Additionally, DJI Modify’s intuitive selection tools improve editing efficiency for complex datasets. Can DJI Modify fix issues like floating parts or incomplete textures? Yes. DJI Modify offers multiple selection methods to identify stray or floating geometry, and you can remove them in a single click. For textures, the software includes “Erase” and “Clone” functions to quickly patch problem areas with surrounding patterns for a cohesive look. Is there an offline mode or do I need a constant internet connection? DJI Modify supports offline operation for locally activated licenses. However, a network-based license requires an uninterrupted internet connection. Additionally, certain features—like planned future cloud-sharing—will naturally need online access to function. What about water surface or hole repairs? DJI Modify lets you draw and fill water surfaces directly on the model, providing realistic color or texture fills. Its hole-filling feature also detects and outlines gaps in the mesh so you can fix them precisely with minimal manual work. Does DJI Modify support custom coordinate systems or advanced transformations? At this time, custom elevation settings, user-defined coordinate systems, and seven-parameter transformations are not supported. For accurate geo-referenced data, ensure your project aligns with DJI Terra’s standard coordinate options before importing it into DJI Modify. How can I share my final models or updates with others? You can export the updated models in a variety of formats or share them via third-party platforms. DJI is planning a cloud-sharing feature—coming in Q2 of 2024—that will allow collaborators to view models online without installing additional software.
