Divido Yusai Divido is the only round model in Minase collection. It is unique in terms of design and displays a high level of craftsmanship. Divido steel case is made of 28 pieces and constructed following the principle of the Japanese 3-dimentional puzzle. Through a revolutionary approach in watchmaking, the dial seems to be floating inside the case, almost suspended below the box-type sapphire window, and this is no optical illusion. Indeed, there is physical space between the case and the edges of the dial, which is only fixed by four tiny screws on the corners, enabling light to flood in from all sides on the hand-painted dial. Another special feature that meets the eye is the date window displaying the date preceding and following the current “D-day” with a little arrow pointing to the current date. More than a round watch Minase Divido rubber is an exciting mix of angles and edges. The name Divido comes from the lost language of Esperanto and means Divided. And the word takes sense while watching at the case side which is joined sharply in the middle with inwards razor-sharp brushed bevels. The case of the Divido is constructed from eight parts. It follows the Japanese HiZ principle of being able to dismantle and repair any single constituent part. The movement is encapsuled in a sort of a case, the upper part acting as a dial. On top of it comes an index ring and the whole is screwed inside the “outer” case which is composed of an upper and a lower part. This ensemble is attached together by the lugs, each being composed of two parts screwed together. Handmade in Japan As every Minase watch, the Divido Yusai Collection is manufactured in Japan. Divido Yusai dial is hand-crafted from mother-of-pearl, enhanced by an intricate layering of pigments made with natural elements. Available on stainless steel or leather strap, each watch is hand-made in Japan. All Minase timepieces bear the registered label “HiZ“, a concept inspired by the Japanese words Hizu (exceptional) and Hi Izuru Kuni (Land of the rising sun). The products labelled HiZ are unique with innovative features such as the “case in case” structure, the extraordinary Sallaz finish and the construction principle “MORE” (Minase Original Rebuild Equation). Mechanical movement Minase’s KT7002 movement is based on the Swiss ETA 2892/A2 ébauches. This high-end execution displays hand-finished surfaces with perlage, blue screws, bridges with diamond polished bevels and a main plate and bridges in black “or”. 50 hours’ power reserve. The Minase rotor was personalized for Minase and displays the brand’s drill head logo, while several openings reveal the movement underneath. This component is assembled with MPS lubrication-free bearings. With its ETACHRON regulating system, this is a very high precision execution. 21 Jewels. Frequency 28’800 vibrations/hour (4 Hz). Otherwise than Being – Beyond Color The Divido Otherwise Than Being originates from a series of blue abstract paintings developed by Towa Takaya over several years. For the artist, blue is not a fixed color. On the contrary, it is a space in which sensations, memories, tensions and desires can coexist — feelings that are sometimes difficult to express in words. Each dial is individually crafted by hand. Towa Takaya – Color as Material Born in Tokyo in 1992 and a Fine Art graduate of Goldsmiths, University of London, Towa Takaya has developed her artistic practice centered on color, material and our perception of the world. One of the defining aspects of her work is the creation of her own coloring materials. The artist notably works with pigments derived from soil, plants and other natural materials collected during her research and travels. Since 2022, she has also been conducting research with Shiseido into the use of materials from the cosmetics industry, exploring their pearlescent properties in painting. For the Yusai project, Towa Takaya devoted an extensive period of research to finding ways of translating her artistic language onto a watch dial. Each dial is individually painted, transforming every watch into a unique work of art. Yusai – The Art of Time and Color The name Yusai combines two Japanese characters. “Yu” evokes the eternal and gentle flow of time, while “Sai” expresses the richness and ever-changing nature of color. This idea lies at the heart of the collaboration between Minase and Towa Takaya: creating a dial whose appearance is never entirely fixed, but evolves with its surroundings. Light thus becomes a component of the watch itself. Time is no longer indicated solely by the hands: it can also be experienced through the transformations of the dial. Divido – Japanese Architecture for an Artwork in Motion The architecture of the Divido, inspired by the Japanese culture of origami, provides a particularly fitting setting for these exceptional dials. Its three-dimensional case is constructed from several distinct components and divided into an upper and a lower sections. The Sallaz polishing technique creates perfectly flat surfaces and remarkably sharp edges. This interplay of polished surfaces and geometric volumes continuously transforms the appearance of the case according to the light and viewing angle, creating a play of reflections that enters into direct dialogue with Towa Takaya’s dial. Presented at the GPHG 2026 Minase presents the Divido Yusai “Otherwise Than Being” as part of the 2026 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève. With this timepiece limited to just ten examples, the manufacture aims to highlight another expression of Japanese high-end watchmaking: one in which mechanical construction, hand craftsmanship and contemporary artistic creation go hand in hand.
