Poetry, chapbook, 28 pages, from Bottlecap Features. Originally a therapeutic approach to processing and reconciling with a traumatic past, Divergence is a collection of poetry exploring one individual’s experience getting diagnosed and living with bipolar disorder. The collection was written and arranged as a chronological, personal narrative about grappling with mental health throughout adolescence and into young adulthood. Within the pages of this chapbook, you will engage with experiences of depression, mania, and everything in between. The aim of Divergence is first and foremost to convey the innately human experience of dealing with a mental health crisis, along with the reality and consequences people living with bipolar disorder can face. Ultimately, Divergence is a work about living resiliently with bipolar and reconciling with one’s past. Isabel Snyder is an emerging poet from Pittsburgh, PA. She graduated from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania in December of 2024 with her B.A. in English. After teaching at a public charter school in New York, she is now pursuing her MFA in Poetry from Cleveland State University.
