TK Weekly Learning Packet: Fall - Week 6

This is a printable Distance Learning packet for TK or Kindergarten, WEEK SIX! In this file, you will find all of the work for one week of school, for TK, with some worksheets that will work for Kindergarten, for both Math and Language Arts subjects. We've included a variety of worksheets and activities, so feel free to use any or all of it with your students! (Please note: We've gone back to only one packet - for TK, instead of two packets for TK and Kindergarten. Heidi is only able to create packets for TK at this time! Thank you for your understanding!)   This week focuses on the letter D, number 4, and the sight word "is". There are four worksheets/activities for the letter D, along with fluency practice for letters A-D. We've also included a fun counting creatures worksheet for the number 4 and shape creatures worksheet for finding squares. This week we're including worksheets for "environmental print". Environmental print is “everyday life” writing that is not in a book, such as logos, signs on buildings, labels, street signs, food wrappers, etc. I'm having my students look for letters they know, on things like a cereal box, a magazine or newspaper, or other things they find around the house!   In my (Heidi’s) experiences, children in TK generally need much more time to learn, and even more developmentally appropriate, hands-on activities than are necessary for most children in Kindergarten. A list of recommended HeidiSongs music videos for the week is also included, and it links to our HeidiSongs internet video site. However, a subscription to our internet video streaming site is not included. You are welcome to eliminate this page as needed.   We've divided everything up by day of the week, (Monday-Friday) so you have the option of sending this entire packet to students, with everything labeled out on what to do each day! Permission is granted to distribute to families/students in your classroom. We've also included an editable Weekly Lesson Plan page, for those who may want to only include bits and pieces from our packet, or add in worksheets of their own.   You may notice that there are lots of hands-on activities for math included. However, on each of these “worksheets,” (which are more like parent handouts), I have stated on it that it is fine to substitute another type of toy or manipulative, such as Lego bricks, etc.   When I teach remotely this year, I plan to print out the packets and send them to families, divided by day of the week. We will start with our Morning Meeting, and then I will give directions for each activity (all via Zoom or Google Meets,) sing with the children using the music videos referenced, and have the children do the activities right there while I “watch” online and wait for questions. Children that finish early can “go play” or read a book at home until we are ready to proceed with the next activity. However, this packet would also work for families to just use them without video guidance from the teacher. It should work either way. I will be posting more ideas for distance learning on my blog.   I highly recommend that buyers take a look at my Parent Guide Posters that explain how to teach a child to hold a pencil, use scissors, glue, glue stick, write names, etc. They are fully editable, so that you can change the language used to cue children with your own directions. These are NOT INCLUDED in this packet, because they would have driven the price up dramatically, and not everyone may want to use both those posters and these lesson plans. However, I will be sending them home with my students along with this packet.   Please follow my blog for tips on how to adapt these activities for use in the classroom. Each item in this packet is the very similar to the ones I would have done in the classroom. In fact, I am just using my lesson plans from both TK and K to create it!
