🌌 Discocactus zehntneri — The Woolly Crown Discocactus Botanical Name: Discocactus zehntneri Common Names: Zehntneri Discocactus, Woolly Discocactus Shipping Condition: Bare Root (No soil or pot included) Bring a piece of exquisite geometry into your home! Discocactus zehntneri is a rare and fascinating species in the Cactaceae family, prized for its beautifully symmetrical, heavily ribbed body and dense, interlocking pale spines that give it a highly textured, frosty appearance. Native to the arid regions of Bahia, Brazil, this plant is a true collector’s gem due to its compact globular growth, intricate spination, and specialized mature features. When grown well, it rewards growers with striking structural symmetry and a truly mesmerizing floral display. ☀️ Light Requirements Prefers bright, indirect light or filtered greenhouse sun. Can tolerate gentle morning sun, but avoid harsh, direct afternoon rays which can bleach or scorch the skin. Ideal for sunny windowsills or dedicated indoor grow light setups. 💧 Watering Needs Water sparingly during the active spring and summer growing season, allowing the soil mix to dry out completely between waterings. Extremely sensitive to overwatering and stagnant moisture—reduce watering to an absolute bare minimum during the cooler winter months. 🌡️ Temperature Tolerance Best kept above 50°F. Very sensitive to frost, prolonged cold periods, and damp winter chill. For cold zones or winter shipping, always include a [Heat Pack] to protect this tropical Brazilian native from freezing damage. ✨ Special Features Intricate Frosty Spination – Loaded with dense, curved spines that form a stunning geometric shield over the plant. The Cephalium Crown – At maturity, it develops a fluffy, white woolly cap at the top from which blooms emerge. Fragrant Night Flowers – Funnel-shaped, pristine white flowers pop up from the woolly crown and open overnight, releasing a sweet aroma. Highly Collectible Geometry – Stays beautifully small and compact, making it a highly sought-after centerpiece for serious cactus enthusiasts.
