¿Dios Existe? (Does God Exist?)

¿Existe Dios? Does God exist? Yesterday as well as today, men and women of all times have asked themselves this question, especially in the face of difficulties and of their own weaknesses. Great saints and sinners, believers and atheists, intellectuals and ordinary people ask themselves this question. But even more so in an age like ours, in which many assert the end of Christianity and the dethronement of God, an age in which humankind is shipwrecked in the illusion of a new meaning of life, characterized by transience and triviality, encompassing everything and truly possessing nothing. In these pages, Cardinal Robert Sarah answers many questions about the existence and presence of God in our lives, about his apparent silence, about death, about suffering, about pain, about joy. Today, perhaps more than ever, we all have a strong need for clear and well-founded answers, for tangible testimonies, for encounters that reveal the existence and visible presence of God. Like Zacchaeus, there is within us a desire for truth and fulfillment; we need to "see Christ" to fill that "void" that constantly reminds us that God exists. "This book was born from an attempt to respond to the questions of the editor, Cantagalli, who, with authentic apostolic zeal, wished to pose to me questions that were sometimes difficult, but of genuine and widespread interest. I sought the answers in my personal history and in my heart, in the Magisterium of the Church and in that of the popes who have shaped my life, and, last but not least, in fruitful dialogue with friends, priests, and lay people, who live an authentic passion for Christ and for the Church, bearing witness to the world of the One they have encountered."
