Why 6mm is the comfort-control sweet spot If you appreciate support under knees, hips, and wrists, 6mm hits a widely recommended balance: soft enough for pressure relief yet steady enough for control. Recent editor roundups note that thicker mats (about 6mm or more) are kinder to sensitive joints during restorative or slower flows; the trade-off is that thinner mats can feel slightly steadier for advanced balance work. Choose based on your practice style and preferred “ground feel.” SELFYoga Journal Designed to practice—and last Dion’s PER construction keeps common rubber allergens at bay and makes care simple. The non-slip texture supports confident transitions on dry hands and feet, while the anti-tear build is ready for daily roll-and-go use. The surface is moisture-resistant and wipes clean quickly—ideal for busy schedules and post-class resets. Specs and materials per the Dion listing. Yune Yoga Prefer a different under-foot feel? If you sweat heavily or practice hot yoga, layer a mat-sized yoga towel—REI notes that a towel adds a machine-washable sweat barrier that improves hygiene and can extend mat life over time. Pair Dion with one of our quick-dry Yoga Towels for heat-building classes. REI Care & cleaning (simple + effective) Daily upkeep is easy: wipe with mild soap and water, then air-dry flat away from direct sun. For periodic deep cleans, REI’s expert method recommends a brief soak → gentle scrub with a soft cloth → rinse → complete air-dry—simple habits that help any mat perform longer. Prefer a quick post-class refresh? REI’s DIY formula suggests 1:4 vinegar (or witch hazel) to water in a small spray bottle—always check your mat’s care notes first. REI+1 Pro tips Keep a travel-size spray bottle in your gym bag for quick between-class wipe-downs.
