Just like birds and reptiles today, every dinosaur that lived during the Mesozoic was hatched from an egg. The discovery of fossil dinosaur eggs upended our understanding of these prehistoric creatures, shedding new light on how they developed, evolved, and lived. This specimen is a fragment of fossilized dinosaur eggshell, discovered in the Provence region of France. The egg was laid 70 million years ago by a Hypselosaurus, a dinosaur usually categorized as a titanosaurian sauropod that lived during the Late Cretaceous. The fossil egg fragment measures approximately 1cm. It comes affixed to an informational display card featuring the Mini Museum Seal of Authenticity.
