Destroy This Mad Brute

Destroy This Mad Brute. Enlist - U.S. Army. An angry gorilla with a helmet labeled "militarism" and holding a bloody club labeled "kultur" is carrying a woman as he walks ashore in America. Illustrated by Harry R. Hopps, 1918. During WWI propaganda posters like Destroy This Mad Brute were used to prop up enthusiasm for the war and increase military enlistment. There was originally a British version of Destroy This Mad Brute, on which this U.S. version is based.  The Destroy This Mad Brute poster would look good on the wall of any active duty or retired member of the Army. It would be a great addition to an office, study or game room.
