About Desert Gardens by Comfort Foods Founded in 1989 by Mark Harden, Comfort Foods’ Desert Gardens line has grown from a small family business into a nationally recognized specialty food brand known for its flavorful Southwestern-inspired seasonings, spice blends, sauces, and Mexican cooking essentials. What began with Mark and his wife, Evonne, repackaging original taco and enchilada sauce mixes for local gift shops and craft fairs quickly developed into a thriving specialty food company with nationwide distribution. Built on a passion for authentic Southwestern flavors, convenient home cooking, and quality ingredients, Desert Gardens became the flagship brand behind Comfort Foods’ success. Today, Desert Gardens by Comfort Foods continues its tradition of bringing bold Southwestern and Mexican-inspired flavors to home kitchens. Now part of the Copperleaf Kitchen family, with founder Mark Harden’s son, Blake, carrying forward the company's original values, the brand remains rooted in its commitment to delicious, easy-to-prepare specialty foods. From Southwestern spice mixes and Mexican-inspired sauces to flavorful seasonings and cooking mixes, Desert Gardens helps home cooks create satisfying meals inspired by the rich culinary traditions of the American Southwest.
