Native to the majestic Himalayan region of India, Dendrobium cretaceum boasts long pendant, ridged pseudobulbs that can extend up to an impressive 30 cm in length. Emitting a fragrant aroma, its flowers, ranging from 3 to 5 cm in diameter, add an aura of elegance to any space. Found amidst the mountainous landscapes of Southeast Asia, these cool to warm growing plants stand at a mature height of 6-12 inches. In the spring, delicate buds emerge from nodes opposite the leaves, unfolding into stunning ivory-white blooms with a striking lip adorned with bifurcated red and purple stripes, reminiscent of nature's finest artwork. Radiating the enchanting scent of roses, these blossoms grace their surroundings for 3-6 weeks, offering a delightful sensory experience. As a deciduous species, the leaves on the newest growths shed before or during the flowering period, giving way to robust canes that undergo rejuvenation in the winter months. During periods of leaflessness and dormancy, maintain slightly drier conditions at the roots, allowing for optimal growth and blooming potential.
