Virgo is the second-largest constellation in the sky (after Hydra) and the largest constellation in the zodiac. The ecliptic intersects the celestial equator within this constellation and Pisces. Underlying these technical two definitions, the sun passes directly overhead of the equator, within this constellation, at the September equinox. Virgo can be easily found through its brightest star, Spica. The goddess Demeter is the ideal embodiment of the gentle, maternal Virgo. Demeter is the Goddess of the Earth and the protector of a bountiful harvest. Similarly, Virgos are guided through life by their sensitivity, empathy, and ability to nurture.  Virgo is typically linked to Dike, the Greek goddess of justice, and Persephone, the daughter of Demeter, the harvest goddess.
