Faceplate Scales are swappable side covers that let you customize the look and functionality of your Keyport Pivot or Slide. They’re like knife scales—only modular, tool-free, and packed with personality (and sometimes actual tools, like this ruler). Does the Glow-in-the-Dark Faceplate really glow? Yes! The Faceplate charges in natural or artificial light and emits a soft green glow in the dark. For best results, expose it to a bright light source (e.g. sunlight or a UV light) for a few minutes. The glow is most visible in low-light or complete darkness.  Why glow-in-the-dark for DEF CON? Because not everything at DEF CON happens in daylight. Whether you're in a dark village, on the go between talks, or signal tracing in the shadows, this GITD NFC Faceplate helps you locate and flex your gear. No flashlight needed. Is this NFC-Enabled Faceplate Scale compatible with my Keyport? Yes, it’s compatible with Keyport Pivot 2.0+, Slide 4.0+, and Anywhere Tools mid-modules. If you’re not sure which model you have, just shoot us a quick email. What can I program the NFC chip to do? You can program the chip to share contact info, open a website or social media profile, trigger a smart home routine, launch a payment app, connect to Wi-Fi, or even open a digital business card—just by tapping your phone. Can I program DEF CON–specific shortcuts into the NFC tag? Absolutely. You can program the embedded NTAG213 to open DEF CON maps, trigger local Wi-Fi connections, link to your hacker resume, or launch any on-site tool or contact link you want. It’s your tap-to-connect field badge. How do I program the NFC chip? Download the free NFC Tools app (available on iOS and Android). Follow the app’s simple steps to write your desired action to the chip. No coding required. Does the NFC Faceplate work with both iPhone and Android? Yes. iPhones (XR and newer) can read and write NFC tags, but must write the data before scanning. Android phones support both reading and writing by default, but the chip will appear blank until it’s programmed. How do I install or switch Faceplate Scales? Installing a Faceplate is a literal snap, while there is a little trick to removing it that is pretty simple once you have seen it. The best way to see both in action is to watch the video above. Can I collect and swap Faceplate Scales? Absolutely. Faceplate Scales are designed to be easily swappable so you can match your setup to your style, function, or environment.
