DC Comics Presents, Vol. 2 #1G (DC Comics 2004)

DC Comics Presents, Vol. 2 #1G introduces a special eight-week serialization that honors editing legend Julius Schwartz and his signature focus on cover-driven narratives. Featuring a striking cover by Adam Hughes, this full-color, 32-page comic draws direct inspiration from the historic Batman #183 illustration to showcase two independent stories about the "couch potato" Dark Knight. This dual-story format provides collectors with multiple creative interpretations of a single iconic moment, demonstrating how different voices and art styles can reimagine the same foundational image. The issue highlights high-profile teamings that bridge decades of DC history. Writer Geoff Johns collaborates with legendary artist Carmine Infantino alongside Joe Giella to deliver one complete script, while writer Len Wein partners with artist Andy Kuhn for a second distinct adventure rooted in the same premise. By packaging these separate narratives together, the publication serves as both a retrospective tribute to the Schwartz era and a standalone reading experience that expands upon Batman's retirement storyline.
