Davis Mirage 12 XCG Umpire Mask Frame

Davis Mirage 12 XCG Umpire Mask Frame The plate belongs to those who see everything and fear nothing. At 11.9 ounces, the Davis Mirage 12 XCG reimagines what a mask can be: injection-molded magnesium formed as a single piece without a single weld, engineered for maximum field of vision through rounded frame geometry that positions every bar precisely where it won't obstruct your sight lines. A Mirage of the iconic Nike Ti styling that set the standard for frame aesthetics, now perfected through modern engineering and built specifically for umpires, not catchers. No separate throat guard to adjust or manage—the Extended Chin Guard is built directly into the frame, staying stable through every pitch while maintaining clean professional lines. Matte black that kills glare in any light. When impact finds the frame, magnesium's material properties provide superior vibration damping compared to rigid materials, working with the pads to manage energy dispersion. At 11.9 ounces, it's barely there. But it's all you need. Material Science That Protects Injection-molded magnesium isn't just lighter than other metals, it's fundamentally different in how it responds to impact. Magnesium possesses exceptional vibration damping capacity among structural metals used in umpire mask frames, reducing the magnitude and duration of force transmission compared to more rigid materials. Duke University research proved titanium masks performed worst across every measurable head injury metric because titanium's rigid strength creates higher peak accelerations. Magnesium's damping properties help manage impact forces more effectively—reducing peak force transmission while working with your pad system to extend impact duration. The single-piece injection-molded construction eliminates weld points entirely—no heat-affected zones where material degrades, no stress concentrations where conventional frames fracture. Wider junction areas where bars meet distribute contact across the entire pad system more effectively than welded intersections. Engineered to maintain protective geometry through repeated impacts, the Mirage's magnesium structure at 11.9 ounces delivers superior impact management through material properties other frames simply don't possess. Features Injection-Molded Single-Piece Construction: Eliminates weld failures through computer-modeled design, with flat bar profiles for improved visibility and wider junctions that distribute impact across more pad surface area Exceptional Field of Vision: Rounded frame geometry positions bars outside natural sight lines, delivering visibility significantly better than other masks on the market Extended Chin Guard (XCG): Longer than any competing frame with shallow rake angle, stays offset from chest protector to eliminate need for dangling throat guards Lightweight Magnesium: Superior strength-to-weight ratio delivers all-game comfort umpires describe as "light as a feather" while maintaining structural integrity through high-velocity impacts Iconic Styling, Reimagined: Classic wire-frame aesthetics achieved through injection-molded magnesium—the traditional look umpires love with modern engineering that won't fail Matte Black Anti-Glare Finish: Reduces reflections from sun and field lighting, especially critical during bright sunny days, while maintaining professional appearance through repeated impacts and constant use Wide Pad Compatibility: Accommodates a wide variety of padding including modern Davis pads along with All-Star MAG, Team Wendy and other universal style pad sets, allowing umpires to customize impact protection to personal preference Specifications Frame Material: Magnesium Frame Construction: Injection molded.
