KANA_29 Rendille Moran Framed Canvas | Lake Turkana, Kenya

Rendille Moran are semi-nomadic pastoralists that inhibit Kenya's most arid region the Kaisut Desert that is located between Lake Turkana and the Chalbi Dessert.  A moran is a warrior, it means he is of age to fight the enemies or the wild animals who will attack the cattle.   The Rendille Moran often wear an elaborate distinctive visor-like hairstyle dyed with red ochre.   Unlike other pastoral tribes, the Rendille favour camels rather than cattle, because they are better suited to the environment. They depend heavily on these animals for many of their daily needs: food, milk, clothing, trade and transport. They are skilled craftsmen and make many different ornaments.  Organic natural handmade wooden frame.  Artwork is by South African fine arts photographer David Ballam.     Dimensions 50" H x 35" W x 2" D
