Dave's Foam Hopper

Dave's Foam Hopper — The Hopper That Refuses to Sink Dave Whitlock’s legendary Dave’s Hopper, now with a dense yellow foam body that laughs in the face of water. It’s the classic grasshopper pattern—amplified for a higher, longer-lasting float so your topwater antics stay front and center. For anglers who like their flies buoyant and their stories believable. Who it’s for: The weekend warrior who prefers bold splashes over subtlety, the guide who needs a dependable float, and anyone living the AXG Life — Life, Adventure-Ready and not afraid to catch a few looks (and fish). Key Features & Design Pattern: Dave Whitlock’s famous “Dave’s Hopper” grasshopper design — the standard for hopper patterns. Body material: Dense yellow foam body for superior buoyancy and durability. Float: Engineered for a higher, longer-lasting float — stays visible and effective longer than traditional ties. Sizes: Available in sizes #06 - #16 to match hatch, mood, or ego. Performance & Benefits This hopper stays high in the film so you can fish confidently over weeds, riffles, and that one slippery rock you always swear you won’t stand on. The dense foam body resists waterlogging, so one fly can survive multiple encounters with teeth, wings, and questionable decisions. Why it matters: Better float = more strike opportunities. The yellow foam keeps the profile bold and visible, giving you the edge when fish are picky or the light is lousy. Durable construction means fewer re-ties and more time doing the important stuff: casting, sipping coffee, and telling slightly exaggerated fishing stories. Built for anglers who want performance with a wink — turns stuck weekends into hero stories and keeps afternoons on the water feeling like they were planned that way. Ready for Action Toss Dave's Foam Hopper into your fly box and make your next cast the one people remember. Add to cart and give your fly line a front-row seat to Adventure—AXG Life, Life, Adventure-Ready.
