Darjeeling Maxi Cotton Tunic Dress Natural Dyes

Introducing the Darjeeling Tunic Dress, a celebration of timeless elegance inspired by the rich culture of tea. This captivating tunic features a striking vertical zigzag pattern, echoing the steep terraced hills of Darjeeling. The design plays with scale and rhythm, creating movement through hand block printed lines in earthy natural tones of black, beige, and bold red, each one as layered and complex as a perfect cup of Darjeeling chai. This piece is hand block printed in a historic village in Rajasthan India, where the craft of printing with natural dyes has been perfected over centuries. The dyes are created from botanical ingredients such as beetroot, indigo, turmeric, and rose madder, giving the fabric a rich, organic palette that can only come from nature. The pattern is brought to life using an ancient mud-resist technique passed down through generations, preserving a cultural heritage that few artisans in the world still practice. Jean Marie personally sourced this tunic from the most skilled master printer, a craftsman whose work is internationally celebrated for its authenticity and artistry, and who has even been honored by a visit from King Charles. His meticulous handwork ensures each piece is not only beautiful, but also a living testament to the highest level of textile craftsmanship. Made from soft, breathable cotton and thoughtfully cut, the Darjeeling Tunic Dress can be worn on its own or layered over pants. Pair it with boots or sandals for a casual day out, or elevate the look with a belt and one of our beautiful malas for added charm. Rooted in tradition, dyed in nature, and made with care, this is wearable art that tells a story. Our Darjeeling tunic is a true work of art! 100% cotton, delicate wash cold.
