Danner Men's Vicious 4.5" Soft Toe Waterproof Work Boot - Brown - 13858

Some Boots Climb Mountains. Others Climb Worksites.By combining top-of-the-line materials like GORE-TEX and Vibram with a weight-saving platform, Danner built the Vicious to feel like the boot you want to put on at the end of a long day. A new anatomical last cups the heel for a secure fit while leaving extra room in the toe box for feet carrying heavy loads, and a dual-density EVA midsole adds shock absorption on top of the low-profile Vibram outsole. Key Features of the Danner Vicious 4.5" 13858 Full-Grain Leather Upper: Leather is put through six separate tests before selection, for strength and durability on the job. Waterproof GORE-TEX® Liner: A 100% waterproof, breathable liner keeps water out while letting sweat and moisture escape. Vibram® Vicious Outsole: A low-profile 90-degree heel with added lugs and grooves for oil- and slip-resistant traction on uneven ground. Danner Trailguard™ Shank: A lightweight, supportive nylon shank for stability and underfoot protection on rough terrain. DLE-01 Last: An anatomical last with superior heel and forefoot capture, plus extra toe-box room for feet under heavy load. Speed Lace System: Tighten from toe to top in one motion for a fast, secure fit. Electrical Hazard (EH) Rated: Non-conductive soles help protect against electrical shock in dry conditions, meeting ASTM F2892 for plain-toe footwear. Dual-Density EVA Midsole: Added cushioning and shock absorption for long days on your feet. Built for Steep, Uneven GroundUnlike a traditional flat-wedge work boot, the Vicious uses a 90-degree heel with more aggressive lugs and grooves. That combination adds safety and grip on steep terrain, when climbing in and out of equipment, and when using tools that call for a stable stance — while the low-profile Vibram outsole still keeps the boot light on your feet. A Different Kind of BuildThe Vicious is a cup-sole boot built on a nylon shank and Trailguard TPU platform rather than Danner's stitchdown construction, so it isn't eligible for Danner's recrafting program. In exchange, you get a lighter, more athletic-feeling boot with GORE-TEX waterproofing built in from the factory — a boot from Danner's imported line rather than the Portland-finished USA-made boots. Why Choose the Danner Vicious 4.5" 13858?If you want a lightweight, waterproof work boot with real traction on uneven ground, this is it. GORE-TEX protection, a Vibram Vicious outsole, and an anatomical last built for heavy loads come together in a boot that's ready for both the jobsite and the trail back to the truck. It has a 100% waterproof, breathable GORE-TEX liner that keeps water out while letting sweat escape, so your feet stay dry without overheating. Can the Vicious be recrafted or resoled? No. The Vicious uses cup-sole construction on a nylon shank rather than Danner's stitchdown build, so it isn't eligible for the recrafting program that some of Danner's USA-made boots offer. Is this a safety-toe boot? No. This version has a plain (non-safety) toe with electrical hazard (EH) protection under ASTM F2892. For a protective toe, choose the composite-toe version (13864). What is the DLE-01 last designed for? It's an anatomical last built to cup the heel for a secure fit while leaving extra room in the toe box — useful if you're carrying heavy loads or need your foot to react quickly when changing direction.
