If you have bent a hook on a stubborn lock, snapped a tip, or simply pick with one profile so much that it shows the miles, this is how you top it up. It is also a tidy way to build out a custom roll: add only the hooks and rakes you actually reach for. Each pick is a single tool for pin tumbler locks. A hook sets pins one at a time for precise single-pin picking. A rake runs across the pins quickly to find an opening through movement. Pick your profile, pick your thickness, and you are set. Choose your pick The profiles in the dropdown Every profile comes in two gauges. The thinner 0.015 in blade slips into tight, crowded keyways and gives you delicate feedback. The thicker 0.023 in blade is stiffer and better suited to blunter, looser locks where a thin pick would flex. Hook 1A classic single-pin-picking hook for setting pins one at a time. The first tool most pickers reach for. Hook 2A second hook geometry for a different reach and angle when Hook 1 does not sit cleanly on the pins. Half DiamondThe all-rounder. Good for single-pin work, light raking, and feeling individual pins in a shallow keyway. Deforest Half DiamondA half diamond on a longer neck so you can reach the back pins without the shoulder fouling the front of the lock. Snake RakeA flowing multi-bump rake for fast raking. Run it in and out under light tension to catch pins through movement. City RakeA stepped, aggressive rake profile for quick opens on simpler pin tumbler locks. Triple Peak Raimundo RakeA three-peak rake that works the pins with a rocking, scrubbing motion. Batarang RakeLike a cross between a two-peak B-rake and a snake rake. Simple looking, but it has earned a place in plenty of working kits. How you use it Tension first, then the right profile Apply light turning pressure with a tension wrench in the bottom of the keyway, then bring the pick in above it. With a hook, feel for the pin that is binding and lift it gently until it sets, then move to the next. With a rake, scrub or rock the pick in and out under light tension and let the bumps bounce the pins toward the shear line. Light hands win. Too much tension and the pins jam. Too little and nothing holds. Find the balance on a known lock first, then carry the feel to harder cylinders. Only pick locks you own or have clear permission to open, and check your local law before you practise. Why a single pick Replace, refine, or build out No wasted set One worn hook does not mean a whole new wallet. Swap the single pick and keep your roll complete. Pick your gauge Take the 0.015 in for tight keyways or the 0.023 in for stiffer, blunter locks, exactly where you need it. Questions Quick answers from the LockPickWorld bench How many picks do I get? One. These are sold as individual picks. Choose the profile and gauge you want from the dropdown, and that single pick ships to you. Which gauge should I choose? Go 0.015 in for tight, crowded keyways and fine feedback. Go 0.023 in for blunter, looser locks where a thin blade would flex too much. Will these fit my Praxis wallet? Yes. They are the same picks the Praxis set is built from, so each one drops straight into the matching slot in your roll. I am new to this. Where do I start? Start with a Hook 1 and a Half Diamond, work them on a practice lock with a light tension wrench, and learn to set pins one at a time before you reach for the rakes. Top up your roll with exactly the pick you need Choose the profile and gauge from the dropdown, drop it back into your Praxis wallet, and get back to picking.
