Dandelion root tea, made from the root of Taraxacum officinale, the bright yellow flower that comes up through every lawn. Across Latin America it is diente de leon, lion's tooth. Each unbleached tea bag holds 2,000 mg of dandelion root, and each tube holds 24 bags, which is 24 days at the one cup a day the label suggests. Dandelion root is a traditional bitter that supports healthy digestion* What is inside Dandelion Root (Taraxacum officinale), 2,000 mg per tea bag. Daily Value not established. That is the entire Supplement Facts panel: one ingredient, nothing added, no fillers and no flavourings. Organic or wildcrafted, grown in Ukraine, and third party tested for identity, microbials and heavy metals. What a bitter actually is Bitters are the oldest category in Western herbalism and they work through taste. The bitter compounds in dandelion root, mostly sesquiterpene lactones, are what give the cup its edge, and tasting them is the point rather than a side effect. That is why a bitter is traditionally taken as a drink. Why the tea bag itself matters We use unbleached, plant based tea bags on purpose. No chlorine bleaching and no plastic, which means none of the microplastics that conventional bags can shed into the cup when you steep them. It is the part of the product you actually put in boiling water. What it tastes like Earthy and properly bitter, closer to coffee than to a fruit tea. Many people drink it the way others drink coffee, in the morning or through the afternoon, and it is naturally caffeine free. Tea bags or loose root These tea bags are the ready to brew option: 2,000 mg already portioned, nothing to measure, nothing to strain, and a 5 to 7 minute steep rather than a 15 minute simmer. If you would rather control your own strength and get more per dollar, the 4 oz loose cut root is the same herb in bulk. Same plant, two formats. Quality and sourcing Organic or wildcrafted depending on the harvest, grown in Ukraine. Third party tested for identity, microbials and heavy metals. Store tightly closed in a dry place at room temperature, 59 to 86°F. Frequently asked questions How do you make dandelion root tea? Bring 8 fl oz of fresh cold water to a rolling boil, pour it over one tea bag, cover and steep for 5 to 7 minutes, then remove the bag. Covering it keeps the aromatics in the cup rather than in the steam. Full method in our dandelion root tea guide. How much dandelion root is in each bag? 2,000 mg. It is the entire Supplement Facts panel, one ingredient and nothing else. Does dandelion root tea have caffeine? No. Dandelion root is naturally caffeine free and there is nothing else in the bag, so there is no caffeine in this tea at all. That is why it is a common coffee alternative. What does dandelion root tea taste like? Earthy and bitter, in a coffee direction rather than a floral one. The bitterness is the character of the herb rather than a fault. How often should you drink it? Our label directs one cup daily, in the morning or the afternoon. That is the guidance we stand behind rather than anything more. Is this the root or the leaf? The root. Dandelion leaf is a different part of the same plant with a different flavour and a different traditional use. These bags are root only.
