Dandelion Root & Leaf Tincture

A favorite and refreshing tonic, Dandelion is wonderful year-round as a balancing support for healthy liver, digestive, and eliminatory function.* Botanical Name: Taraxacum officinale. Part Used: Fresh root and leaf. About Dandelion Root and Leaf Tincture: At Avena, we tincture fresh whole Dandelion plants that we dig in spring, creating a full-spectrum tincture to support digestive and eliminatory health. Dandelions grow abundantly and make themselves known by marking the beginning of spring. Although often overlooked, this common weed is one of the most remarkable plants for supporting liver and digestive health, breast health, and easing occasional mood swings. Dandelion's bitter compounds reinforce the health of the liver and gallbladder, in turn supporting the body's detoxification pathways and promoting healthy digestion and hormonal balance. Like Burdock, Dandelion is a prebiotic, a plant that encourages a healthy microbiome by feeding the "good" bacteria living in our intestines and along our digestive tracts! The nourishing leaves are mineral-rich and encourage healthy and balanced excretion of fluid via the urinary tract. Dandelion's cooling temperament helps to smooth out feelings of agitation, anger, and tension in the body making this plant an incredible ally for the many seasons and transitions of life. Best used for 6-8 weeks in spring, and again in fall, and for 3-6 months or longer when wanting to support an easeful menopausal transition. Garden Notes: Come May in Maine, the farm fields are covered in the brilliant yellow flowers of the infamous dandelion. Hungry ruby-throated hummingbirds and honeybees delight in the sweet nectar of dandelion blossoms. Avena's gardeners, thrilled that spring has arrived, take heart in hand-digging buckets full of fresh roots and leaves which are immediately tinctured in organic alcohol with your wellness in mind. Taste / Energetics: bitter, slightly sweet, cool, moistening, nutritive. When to reach for it: For extra support in greeting spring and saying goodbye to winter, and again when entering fall and preparing for the cold of winter. After a vacation or other indulgent periods of time. Any time a little extra liver support is called for. As an ally pre-menstrually or to support a healthy menopausal transition. When feeling hot, irritated, and stuck. For generalized, straightforward digestive goodness. Ingredients: Fresh Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) whole plant^, Spring Water, Grain Alcohol^.
