Damascus Scimitar Kukri Knife with Colored Bone Handle

A blade this wide only works if the steel behind it can handle the weight of the cut, and the ladder Damascus pattern running down this scimitar kukri makes that clear before it ever leaves the sheath. The deep belly curve puts most of the cutting power toward the tip, the same geometry that has made kukri-style blades a go-to for heavy outdoor work for generations. At 15 inches overall with a 10-inch blade, this knife carries enough length and weight to handle chopping tasks that a standard fixed blade cannot. The handle uses colored bone in a fire orange and amber swirl, capped at the butt end with a dark wood or horn fitting that grounds the bright handle tone against the brass bolster. That bolster sits where the curved brass guard meets the blade, adding weight at the grip and protecting the hand during heavier swings. A tooled leather sheath with a belt loop and stamped detailing rounds out the piece for outdoor or belt carry. Damascus Scimitar Kukri Knife at JW Steel Crafts, combining a ladder Damascus blade with a colored bone handle, brass bolster, and full tang construction in a 15-inch curved profile. The History Behind This Blade Kukri-style blades trace back to the forward-curved fighting and utility knives of Nepal, prized for concentrating weight and cutting force toward the tip. Scimitar profiles carry a similar curved heritage from Middle Eastern blade design, where the sweep of the edge was built for slicing power in a single stroke. Combining the two into one wide, curved Damascus blade gives this knife a chopping capability that straight-edge knives cannot match. JW Steel Crafts forges each blade by hand and fits the colored bone handle and brass bolster individually before final assembly. Blade Performance The ladder Damascus pattern holds a sharp edge through repeated heavy use and shows clean layer definition down the full 10-inch blade. The deep curved belly concentrates weight toward the tip, which gives the knife strong chopping and slicing power for outdoor and camp tasks. Full tang construction keeps the knife balanced and solid from the blade tip through the handle end. The wide profile handles batoning and heavier cutting tasks that narrower blades struggle with. Damascus steel of this thickness sharpens back up cleanly on a whetstone when the edge dulls from regular use. Handle Construction Colored bone covers the handle in a fire orange and amber swirl that catches light differently depending on the angle. A dark wood or horn cap finishes the butt end, giving the grip a defined stopping point during heavy swings. The brass bolster adds weight right where the hand meets the blade, which balances out the width and length of the steel. Full tang construction ties the handle solidly to the blade with no weak point between the two. The curved brass guard helps keep the hand positioned safely behind the edge during hard use. Best Used For This knife suits campers and outdoorsmen who need one blade capable of chopping, clearing brush, and handling heavier camp tasks in a single tool. Collectors drawn to kukri and scimitar profiles will find the colored bone handle and brass bolster combination uncommon compared to standard horn or wood handle versions. The size and weight make it better suited to belt or pack carry than to everyday pocket use. As a gift, it suits outdoor enthusiasts, campers, and collectors who want a working blade with real presence. Add the Damascus Scimitar Kukri Knife to your cart today.
