Damascus Neck Folding Knife with Rosewood & Bone Handle

Hawkbill pruning folders became standard carry tools for farmers, gardeners, and orchard workers across 19th century Europe and America, where a curved downward blade handled vine cutting, branch trimming, and rope work that straight blades could not grip cleanly. Bone and wood combination handles were the working standard on professional folding tools of that era, bone for smooth grip on the lower scale, dense wood on the upper for impact resistance. At JWSteelCrafts, we get a lot of questions about this style. So let's break down what makes it special, where it came from, and why the hawkbill pruning profile still holds up as a solid field tool today. What Exactly Is This Damascus Neck Folding Knife? This Damascus neck folding knife opens to 7 inches overall with a 3-inch blade and a 4-inch handle. The blade is forged from Damascus steel in a wave-pattern finish. The handle pairs a dark rosewood upper scale with a cream bone lower scale and a wide flared bone bolster at the top. A mosaic cross pin sits on the handle face, a brass thumb stud opens the blade, and a liner lock holds the blade rigid during use. No sheath is included. Why the Hawkbill Pruning Profile Still Matters The JWSteelCrafts Damascus pruning folder carries that same working field tradition in every forged blade. The hawkbill profile curves sharply downward from spine to tip, designed for pull cutting through vines, cord, rope, and branch material where a straight blade loses control. The curved tip draws cleanly through material on a single downward stroke without slipping off the cut line. Rosewood and Bone Handle: Comfort and Character The handle pairs dark rosewood on the upper scale and cream bone on the lower scale. A wide flared bone bolster sits at the top of the handle, adding a distinct profile and protecting fingers during heavy pull cutting tasks. Rosewood is dense and moisture-resistant through daily outdoor carry, while bone provides a smooth, firm grip surface that does not slip in wet field conditions. A mosaic cross pin sits on the handle face, a decorative cross and compass pattern pressed into the handle for a bold visual detail. Damascus Steel: More Than Just a Pretty Pattern The blade is forged from Damascus steel in a wave pattern finish, holding a sharp working edge through sustained daily carry and field cutting use. Because each blade is hand-forged, the wave pattern varies from piece to piece, making every knife genuinely one of a kind. Liner Lock Build and Ready for Everyday Carry The liner lock engages automatically on blade opening and holds the blade rigid until manually released. The brass thumb stud allows fast one-hand deployment from a closed position. This knife suits pruning, vine cutting, and orchard field tasks, rope, cord, and webbing utility cutting, and everyday carry outdoor and field use. Always open and close the blade carefully to avoid accidental injury, and keep it stored safely when not in use. What Comes With It Each Damascus hawkbill folding pruning knife arrives ready for fieldwork, with a hand-forged blade and handcrafted handle detailing that reflects real craftsmanship rather than a factory build. No sheath is included with this knife.
