D12-5 Engines

The Estes D12-5 engine is a high-thrust motor built for model rockets that need strong liftoff power and a longer coast before deploying their recovery system. With a 5-second delay between engine burnout and ejection, it gives your rocket extra time to climb before the parachute or other recovery method activates—perfect for heavier rockets or those designed for extended flights. This engine is a great match for a variety of Estes kits and custom builds that support D-engine power. Whether you're flying a single-stage rocket or the upper stage of a multi-stage setup, the D12-5 delivers reliable, consistent performance with every launch. The longer delay helps improve flight stability and timing, giving your rocket a smoother arc and more controlled descent. Each package includes two D12-5 engines, two starters, and four starter plugs. You’ll have what you need to get your rocket ready for the next launch, with parts that fit easily into standard Estes engine mounts. Everything is packaged with care and built to meet Estes’ trusted quality standards. Whether you’re moving up from smaller C engines or fine-tuning a more advanced rocket, the D12-5 is a solid, dependable choice. It offers the right mix of power and delay for rockets that need a little more time in the sky before coming back to Earth.
