The dendrobates tinctorius azureus morph is found in the forests surrounded by the Sipaliwini savannah in southern Suriname and Brazil. It is a mainland animal, but stays close to water sources. Besides being large (4-5 cm) and visually appealing, D. azureus is both a hardy frog and easy to breed. They are highly recommended for beginner hobbyists, especially given that they are extremely bold. They are somewhat aggressive frogs, and are best kept in pairs. Parents are from 2 of 3 independent lines.
