Looking to put the finishing touch to your living space? Or give a timeless gift to someone special?  Create a custom map centered on any place of your choice. We offer a number of sizes and materials as well as custom messages, points of interest or addresses. Each piece is hand crafted in our studio with great attention to your locations landscape and features. Even the correct magnetic north is shown next to true north. Every map is a unique work of art! Put your location on the map, literally. Add markers of your choice.     Add a short message to make it extra special.  Choose one of our 5 frames or source your own.    Our Process Our process uses micro-3D engraving to represent fine details across several layers of the artwork. The deepest layer is the core of the plywood below the veneer, and the highest layer is a clear gloss. Each meticulously mapped layer is represented by a specific laser intensity and frequency, resulting in an engraving with subtle nuance in its gloss, depth, and texture. Bridges and overpasses are mapped to the lowest power, so they are represented on the top layer (least engraved), while large roads and tunnels are set to high power for the extra depth. Farms, forest and parks landscapes, industrial areas, universities, and schools all have distinct textures that distinguish them on the map. Water is represented by a mesmerizing wave pattern or sourced from a NOAA chart depending on availability. Open natural areas are left untouched and retain the beauty of the base material.  Alpha Channel maps have much more detail than other engraved maps and have the ability to zoom down to a single city block (where mapped). Please allow up to 3-4 weeks for your map to be delivered. Most orders are fulfilled in the same week.  If you would like to see a proof, please leave a note where you list the map location above.  Map data is provided by Open Street Maps and ESRI for accurate cartographic projections and is processed in a way that allows Alpha Channel Design to produce custom large area maps with the maximum level of map detail at the highest resolution the material can handle (typically 300-600dpi). Other styles available including rustic pine, metal, 3D colored and 3D CNC variations  If you would like something larger or more complex contact us, we create maps up to 4’ x 3’ feet long, much more if tiled.
