Curiosity (Unleashing Curiosity: Expanding Possibilities) ~ Subliminal

Unleashing Curiosity: Expanding Possibilities — As children we were naturally curious about everything. Our inquisitive curiosity was endless until someone came along to stunt it. We have all heard that old person mantra, when frustrated over an enquiring question, “Curiosity killed the cat!” Most of us were repeatedly discouraged from our curious ways early in life, and we began therefore to accept the so-called patent answers for everything. Why is the sky blue seldom led to a real answer, that being something more forthright like, “The sky is blue because molecules in the air scatter blue light from the sun more than they scatter red light. When we look towards the sun at sunset, we see red and orange colors because the blue light has been scattered out and away from the line of sight.” Perhaps the reason for simpler answers arises from the fact that the correct answer will only lead to more questions and what adult wants to go down that hole with a child? Curiosity is the fuel behind the greatest discoveries! Nevertheless, most of us have had our curiosity repeatedly dampened both by way of simple pat answers and open antagonism to our questioning. The result, we end up being educated by way of rote core memory—names, dates, places, and so forth. We no longer seek deep answers but instead accept that something like electricity turns on the lights. When we were young we may have wanted to know what electricity was and where it came from, but today it is just something the utility companies provide for a fee. The difference between a generator and an alternator are lost for most people. Curiosity is the fuel behind the greatest discoveries in science. Think of curiosity this way, in the words of Bernard Baruch, “Millions saw the apple fall, but Newton asked why.” Or maybe this way, in the words of John Locke, “Curiosity in children, is but an appetite for knowledge. The great reason why children abandon themselves wholly to silly pursuits and trifle away their time insipidly is, because they find their curiosity balked, and their inquiries neglected.” In which way was your curiosity mentored? Arnold Edinborough had the right idea when he stated, “Curiosity is the very basis of education and if you tell me that curiosity killed the cat, I say only the cat died nobly.” There are no foolish questions, only foolish people who would stifle your curiosity. Curiosity is the cure for boredom, the ignition for discovery, the excitement behind pioneering ideas, and at least a co-founder to the mother of invention. Why not regain the magic of curiosity and add some spice to your life? Who knows what you might discover? Try it today! Sample Affirmations "Curiosity is natural. Curiosity is helpful.
