Prose, poetry, chapbook, 40 pages, from Bottlecap Features. “You. You’re the only one in a hundred years who’s been able to hear me. You must be a child of my sister or younger brother. They never knew what happened to me. But now you will.”  —from “The Human Statuary” A human seeking to rescue a fae child. A young vampire with a terrible deed on his hands. A magician’s assistant who hates both himself and his master. A prince captured by a cruel sorceress. These characters and many others come to life in Grave Curiosities: Tales of the Macabre and Unsettling, a collection of short stories, flash fiction, and poetry in the genre of dark fantasy. These stories transport the reader to eerie, decaying mansions; lavish masquerade balls; castles full of secrets and danger. In doing so, they explore themes of humanity, guilt, mercy, and cruelty in a new, fantastical light. Each story is told deftly, painting vivid scenes with few words, drawing the reader in as if they too were a character plunged into the uncanny pages of Grave Curiosities.
