Cub Buddies Lyons Studios Limited Edition Aviation Print

What could possibly be any better than a lifelike, full-color aviation illustration starring a radiant yellow Piper Cub? How about a similar image with a second Cub added to the mix! That's exactly what you get in Sam Lyons' spirited creation affectionately labeled Cub Buddies. While the aforementioned Piper Cub does command center stage, the second Cub is of the tractor variety; specifically, an International Harvester Farmall Cub. The 16" x 24" drawing portrays the crimson-hued tractor towing its aviating namesake out of a charming rural hangar with a distinctive red & white checkered roof. As an example of art imitating life, the "Piper & Stinson" sign above the hangar's entrance is based on a real-life placard from Ranger Airfield in Ranger, Texas. Lyons' insanely realistic vegetation and astonishing azure sky bring a level of authenticity to the piece that's closer to a photograph than an ink & paper rendering. The icing on the cake is the ruby red taildragger flying low in the background. After a few minutes of soaking up the scenery, you'll almost swear you can smell the grass. This picture is available as both an Artist Proof (limited to 35) and a signed & numbered Limited Edition print (limited to 350). Both versions are printed on acid-free paper, utilize first-rate permanent inks, and include a Certificate of Authenticity. An extraordinary depiction of grassroots aviation that's sure to resonate with flight enthusiasts the world over.
