Hey Ram (Oh God), Gandhi's final words at the time of his assassination have been a matter of controversy since his death in 1948. In life Gandhi had often said that at the time of his death he wanted to die with the name of Ram on his lips. Gandhi is universally recognized for his nonviolent crusades to seek justice, liberty, and equality. A man of virtuous integrity, his humbleness was his strength.
