Crystal Midge - Unweighted

Crystal Midge (Unweighted) Midges are on the menu all year long, and when trout get selective, a clean, natural midge is often the difference between watching fish and catching them. The unweighted Crystal Midge is a slim, buggy imitation built for slow drifts, subtle takes, and technical water. Without a bead, it sinks more naturally and rides higher in the film — perfect for spooky trout, shallow flats, and situations where heavy flies look wrong. This pattern keeps the same fish-catching ingredients: a translucent peacock body, a touch of sparkle, and a profile that matches what trout see every day in tailwaters and spring creeks. If you fish winter rivers, picky pods, or clear water where trout have seen it all, this is the midge you want in your box. Best For Clear water and pressured trout Shallow runs and slower seams Winter and early spring midge hatches How to Fish It As your bottom fly under an indicator Behind a heavier nymph as a dropper On a Euro rig as a tag fly when fish are feeding up in the column
