Target Pests Citrus, Comstock, obscure, Mexican, and long-tailed mealybugs, plus crawling/larval stages of some scale insects. Product Description Known as the "mealybug destroyer," this small ladybird beetle lays its eggs right on mealybug egg masses. Its larvae are fuzzy and white and easy to mistake for mealybugs themselves, so don't panic if it looks like your infestation grew! Both larvae and adults feed actively on mealybugs for several weeks. Crops Vegetables · Citrus · Succulents & Cacti · Grapes · Blueberries Usages Greenhouses · Indoor Facilities · Field Crops · Gardens · Vineyards Introduction Rates Light infestations: 1–2 beetles per sq. ft., as needed Heavy infestations: 2–4 beetles per sq. ft. Temperature range: 60–95°F Rates are general guidelines. Actual needs vary by pest species, plant, and infestation level. Monitor both pests and released insects to gauge success. Application Introduce during cooler parts of the day (morning or evening). Disperse onto infested plants, some will fly out. Leave the container open for 24 hours so stragglers can emerge. Pro Tips Less effective on long-tailed mealybugs, which don't lay egg masses the way other species do. Control ants first as they protect mealybugs (and some scale) in exchange for honeydew, undermining your release. Avoid broad-spectrum or systemic pesticides, which are toxic to these beetles. For best seasonal results, introduce in early spring after temperatures are sustained above 50°F. They will need to be reintroduced after freezing temperatures. Best introduced immediately upon receipt. If needed, store up to 18 hours at 50–56°F, out of direct sunlight. Never freeze.
