Cruzan Raspberry Rum 750ML

Cruzan Raspberry Rum 750ML is a flavored rum from the US Virgin Islands bottled at 21% ABV (42 proof) in a 750ml format. Produced at one of the Caribbean's oldest continuously operating distilleries — founded in 1760 on Saint Croix — this expression pairs Cruzan's characteristically clean, light-bodied rum with natural raspberry flavor. Quick Facts: ABV: 21% (42 Proof)  |  Origin: Saint Croix, US Virgin Islands  |  Flavored Rum  |  Distillery: Cruzan Rum Distillery Production & Heritage The Cruzan Rum Distillery on Saint Croix has been in operation since 1760 and has been managed by the Nelthropp family for eight generations, now under the ownership of Beam Suntory. Cruzan's base rum is produced using a modern five-column distillation method inspired by traditional Cuban rum-making, which yields an exceptionally clean, light-bodied spirit. The distillate is aged in once-used American oak bourbon barrels before being blended with natural raspberry flavoring, a process that preserves the base rum's refined character while layering in fruit-forward sweetness. Tasting Notes Aroma: The nose opens with sweet, ripe raspberry and a mild tartness that keeps it from turning cloying. Underneath, a gentle candy-like fruitiness and a whisper of the oak-aged rum base come through. Taste: On the palate, the entry is bright and fruit-driven, dominated by the flavor of fresh-picked raspberries. Mid-palate, a balanced sweetness emerges alongside soft, light-bodied rum character. The lower proof makes this an approachable, easy-drinking spirit. Finish: The finish runs surprisingly long for a flavored rum at this ABV, with lingering fruity sweetness. Residual berry notes fade gradually, leaving a clean, slightly tart impression. How to Drink Cruzan Raspberry At 21% ABV, this is designed primarily as a mixing rum rather than a neat sipper — it shines when combined with simple mixers or as a cocktail ingredient. A Raspberry Daiquiri highlights the natural fruit character with fresh lime juice and simple syrup. A Raspberry Rum Punch works well here because the light body and pronounced berry flavor integrate easily with tropical juices. A Raspberry Lemonade Cooler — simply the rum topped with fresh lemonade and ice — makes an effortless warm-weather drink that benefits from the spirit's tartness. Best For Building a flavored rum collection for home cocktail mixing Casual summer gatherings and poolside entertaining Adding a natural berry accent to tropical punch bowls Introducing rum to someone who prefers sweeter, fruit-forward spirits Frequently Asked Questions What does Cruzan Raspberry taste like? It delivers a pronounced fresh raspberry flavor with balanced sweetness, mild tartness, and a candy-like fruitiness built on a clean, light-bodied rum base. How does Cruzan Raspberry compare to Bacardi Raspberry? Both are flavored rums targeting the cocktail market, but Cruzan's five-column distilled base from Saint Croix tends to produce a lighter, cleaner rum profile. Bacardi Raspberry is typically bottled at 35% ABV, giving it noticeably more alcohol presence than Cruzan's 21% ABV expression. Is Cruzan Raspberry good for cocktails? Yes — at 21% ABV, this rum is purpose-built for mixed drinks, where its vivid raspberry flavor and light body blend seamlessly with juices, sodas, and citrus. Where is Cruzan Raspberry made? It is produced at the Cruzan Rum Distillery on the island of Saint Croix in the US Virgin Islands, a facility that has been distilling rum since 1760. What foods pair well with Cruzan Raspberry? Dark chocolate desserts complement the berry sweetness with bitter contrast. Lemon tarts mirror the rum's tartness. Fresh fruit platters — especially mixed berries and stone fruits — echo the primary flavor. Vanilla cheesecake provides a creamy backdrop that lets the raspberry notes stand out. Grilled chicken with a berry glaze creates an unexpected savory pairing. What sizes does Cruzan Raspberry come in? The standard widely available size is the 750ml bottle, though Cruzan flavored rums have historically been offered in additional formats including 1L and 1.75L in select markets. Is Cruzan Raspberry worth the price? Cruzan Raspberry positions as a value-tier flavored rum, delivering genuine Caribbean rum character from a heritage distillery at a price point accessible to casual drinkers and home bartenders alike. Why Cruzan Raspberry? What separates this from many flavored rums on the shelf is its pedigree — the base spirit comes from a distillery with over 260 years of continuous rum production on Saint Croix, using a precise five-column distillation process and bourbon barrel aging before any flavoring is introduced. That clean, well-made foundation means the raspberry character reads as natural rather than artificial. For a lower-proof flavored rum, the finish is notably long, suggesting the base spirit carries enough substance to support the fruit. In a crowded flavored rum category, the combination of genuine Caribbean heritage and natural raspberry flavor gives it a credibility that many competitors at this tier lack.
