Crow Mask

The Crow bird mask was created for the show Cow and Weasel.   It is an adaptation of the children’s book by Barry Lopez by Jim Leonard. The story is one of two boys who leave on an epic journey. They find themselves in the stories of others. It is a play of simple language and beautiful imagery. The mask is designed to be worn on the top of the head like a hat. The actor is looking at the floor when the mask is forward. The idea in the design was for the actors to be human when speaking and then transform into the animals. The theme in the design of these animal masks and bird masks is one of transformation. It is a theme of spirituality, of coming of age and of enlightenment.
