Penncross is excellent for greens, tees, and fairways. Some benefits of Penncross include: • Very forgiving • Wide range of adaptability • Aggressive lateral growth • Strong disease control • Suitable for greens, tees and fairways • Excellent heat and cold tolerance Recommended seeding rate is 1.0 to 1.50 lbs./1,000 sq. ft. for new plantings and 0.1 to 0.25 lbs./1,000 sq. ft.  After 60 years, Penncross creeping bentgrass is still the most specified and most widely used and trusted bentgrass in the world. Along with providing a smooth surface for putting greens, its aggressive lateral growth and ability to recover quickly makes Penncross bent grass variety a great choice for use on tees and landing areas. Penncross is exclusively a first-generation cross of three vegetative clones, which are planted by hand in Oregon. The parent material, developed by Dr. Musser, is still maintained at Penn State University, where it is not allowed to flower, and vegetative stolon's are air expressed to Oregon, to plant new fields of Penncross. Bent grasses are the most beautiful of the grasses with their fine texture, deep green color, thick density, and low growing habit. They are considered the luxury grasses of the cool season grasses.  Bentgrass is a cool season lawn grass. Bent Grass Seed can be planted from seeds or sod and provides a beautiful golf like turf grass lawn in Northern areas. Bents requires high amounts of lawn care & maintenance. Creeping bent grass is used extensively in lawns, golf courses, athletic fields for the creeping, dense growth and beautiful coloration and short mowing capabilities. It is used primarily on golf putting greens because of the denseness and mowing qualities. Penncross is the most popular and recommended variety for home lawns.
