Crafties – FlySmithFlies

Crafties from FlySmithFlies are Casey Smith’s premium craft-fur baitfish patterns—built for anglers who want maximum movement, durability, and realism in skinny water or deeper structure. Tied on a Gamakatsu SC15 2/0, each fly has a long, flowing profile that breathes on every pause and snaps to life with sharp strips. Casey blends multiple densities and shades of craft fur to create a tapered, full-bodied baitfish silhouette with subtle shimmer and lifelike movement. The result is a fly that pushes water just enough to get noticed while still tracking naturally, making it deadly on pressured redfish, speckled trout, snook, and anything else hunting small finfish. The Crafties series fishes clean, sinks at a controlled rate, and maintains its shape even after several fish—something most craft-fur patterns fail to do. Why It Works • Long, tapered craft-fur profile creates fluid, swimming action • Natural shimmer and color blending mimic real baitfish • SC15 2/0 hook provides strength, sharpness, and excellent hookup angles • Lightweight design casts well in wind and lands softly in shallow water • Premium hand-tied construction by Casey Smith of FlySmithFlies Best For: Redfish, speckled trout, snook, striped bass, jacks, and any predator feeding on small to midsize baitfish How to Fish It Crafties excel with a strip-pause retrieve. A couple of short pops followed by a deliberate pause lets the craft fur flare and pulse—often triggering the eat. Perfect for marsh drains, grass edges, mud flats, and oyster clumps where fish key in on wounded minnows.
