The Crack Back PMD (Pale Morning Dun) is an effective, technical fly pattern designed to fool selective trout feeding on one of summer’s most prolific mayfly hatches. This nymph-to-emerger transition pattern imitates the exact moment the insect's shuck begins to split across its back, revealing the bright, vulnerable adult wing underneath. Fish this pattern just below the surface film or on a hopper dropper rig, where its realistic profile and subtle flash trigger aggressive strikes from fish that are routinely passing up standard sub-surface nymphs.
