CPO Shirt - Beige Hopsack

Fauves is produced in Japan, under the same designer as Olde Homesteader and Olde H & Daughter, two of our most elevated small brands. The label takes its name from "Fauvism", a short-lived artistic style/movement from the early 20th century, lead by Henri Matisse and Andre Derain - Fauvism was characterized by its use of bold colors and exaggerated brushstrokes, adjacent to the impressionist style. Fauves' design takes inspiration from classic American workwear styles, looking specifically at mass-produced garments developed after industrialization. Each silhouette is meticulously enhanced, with exacting construction, custom textiles, and highly detailed tailoring, a stark contrast to the more simplified & utilitarian originals. The CPO (short for Chief Petty Officer) shirt is just that, a military-style casual overshirt with the classic flat hem and twin chest pockets. It's got a relaxed fit, roomy enough through the chests without coming off as oversized, with full sleeves and a standard point collar. The buttons are a tonal marbled beige, chunky and thematically-true to original CPO shirts, and can be found closing up the placket, sleeves, and chest pockets. It's made from a an extremely handsome hopsack cotton, with an airy grid pattern that blends beige and khaki yarns. Hopsack is a type of basket-weave, with a more open face for breathability, that breathes well and drapes naturally. Perfect as lighter outerwear during hot weather, it's an excellent layering piece when temperatures cool down, clocking in at a comfortable medium-weight that can be worn almost year round.
