Cozy Cabin Pillow or Runner

What happens when you take classic color-and-weave to the next level? You get a captivating weave structure; log cabin! Yarns & Instructions: This kit includes all the yarns needed to weave one pillow, or runner. The pattern is featured in Deborah Jarchow's Rigid Heddle Weaving Basics & Beyond book, Project 12, pages 78-82. You will need this book for the drafts for warp and weft sequence. We have chosen Cotton Fleece for this project in place of the original yarns from the pattern.  Cotton Fleece is a quality cotton and wool blend.  You will love this yarn! We are offering several color options in two contrasting colors so that your log cabin will really pop!  The colors shown in the picture from the book will differ than the colors in this kit.  Choose your favorite color combination from the drop-down menu. Learn A New Technique Log cabin is basically plain weave and delivers a lot of design structure with little effort. The order that you transfer the threads from slots to holes is what sets up the blocks for the log cabin sequence. Then you will alternate the dark and light shuttles in the weft creating the 3D blocks. It's truly mesmerizing! Equipment You'll Need Rigid Heddle Loom 20" Weaving Width (or narrower if you are weaving a runner) 10 dent reed 2 shuttles  You will also need a 16" x 16" pillow form if weaving the pillow. Zoom Class with Deborah Jarchow We are excited to announce a Zoom Class with Deborah Jarchow for this Log Cabin project! This is a 2 hour tutorial that will go over the techniques for weaving log cabin.  This tutorial is designed to demonstrate log cabin techniques.  You won't be weaving along during the presentation, but gain tips for when you weave on your own. It's also a a good refresher if you haven't woven log cabin in awhile.   The class will show a Powerpoint presentation with tips on setting up the loom for log cabin and weaving wider or narrower projects and having good warp tension. Deborah welcomes questions and comments along the way. Deborah will demonstrate changing colors in the weft so the joins are not visible and how to manage the weft to create the log cabin pattern.  She'll also discuss how to adapt the pattern to make a table runner if you only have a narrower loom.  Before class she will send a bonus pattern to weave a table runner instead of the pillow if you prefer.  And of course she'll also chat about the supplies she likes to use which are always helpful to learn about.   Class Date and Times The session is offered on Sunday, April 28.  Two class times are available.
