The Cowart Muscadine Grape is a standout dark purple–black muscadine variety prized for its large berries, rich sweet flavor, and remarkable disease resistance. Vigorous and heavy-producing, Cowart is one of the most reliable muscadines for fresh eating, jam and jelly making, juice, and home winemaking. Its firm, thick-skinned berries hold exceptionally well on the vine, making it a favorite for both home gardeners and commercial growers across the South. This trailing vine grows with enthusiasm, forming dense, ornamental foliage that provides beautiful coverage on trellises, arbors, fences, and vineyard rows. In addition to its productivity, Cowart adds landscape value by creating natural shade and lush greenery throughout the growing season. As a self-fertile muscadine, Cowart sets fruit reliably without needing a pollinator, and its low-maintenance nature makes it ideal for growers who want abundance without fuss. Thriving in warm, humid climates where traditional grapes often struggle, Cowart Muscadine continues to earn its reputation as one of the most durable, flavorful, and high-yielding muscadine grapes for southern orchards and home vineyards.
